Ingredients:
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1 tsp ground cinnamon
– 1/2 tsp ground ginger
– 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
– 1/4 tsp ground cloves
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 3/4 cup white sugar
– 3 eggs
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1/2 cup whole milk
– 1/4 cup brewed chai tea, cooled
For Tres Leches:
– 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
– 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and spices – cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves.
3. In a separate large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk and chai tea until well combined.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Once the cake is done, poke holes all over the surface using a fork or skewer.
7. In a separate bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
8. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours, allowing the milk mixture to fully absorb.
9. Serve chilled, and enjoy the creamy, chai-infused goodness! 🍰
